Here's a quick update you on what's been going on in my world over the last few months. I have been traveling as usual telling my story and people are really listening to what I have to say.
Last month, I dropped in on the Pod Save the People podcast Hosted By: DeRay Mckesson, Clint Smith , Brittany Packnett, Samuel Sinyangwe to share my story. Listen to the recording here.
My next speaking engagement is at Rice University on Oct. 7. Registration will be open soon but the event is free so please come out and spread the word. Expect to be challenged to mobilize for reforms to our justice system.
I'll be in New York a few days later on Oct. 10 with the ACLU to discuss the death penalty at the same moment the federal government is reinstating it. You can get tickets for free at this link. New York friends, I hope I see you there.
If you follow me on social media, you have heard about my Smart Justice Speakers Bureau Advocacy Training program that will be launching later in the year. The course will be available in schools but also online so that anyone who wants to learn to tell their story can do so. It was important that this course be accessible to all because our stories can change the system. I've seen it happen with just telling my story so imagine the impact if we all start speaking about what happened to us because of the unjust criminal justice system. Join the wait list now. We want to hear from mothers, children, prison employees, and those who have had direct contact with the system. The more voices we can uplift the bigger our movement will grow.
You're reading this now because you have heard my story but you all know someone who hasn't so please share this message with them.
